Committed to supporting the soldiers who protect the country of Israel and Jews around the world, FIDF was established in 1981 by a group of Holocaust survivors. Today, the organization offers services and programs to educate and improve the lives of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers and veterans.

The FIDF IMPACT! Scholarship Program, for example, allows donors to cover tuition and related expenses for former Israeli combat soldiers to attend accredited institutions of higher learning. In return, each recipient pledges to donate 130 hours of service annually to his or her community. Since the program started, it has given more than 7000 scholarships to IDF combat veterans, and the community has benefited from more than 2.5 million service hours.
